Woo! It has been sunny and warm for the past few days. I like it. Sadly, the weather gets worse just in time for the weekend. Pbffffff.

Anyway...work has been incredibly busy the last while. We finished month-end earlier this week, but starting yesterday I was supposed to start my training in the warehouse. Supposed to. Wednesday is cycle count day and even though I didn't have to count, I still have to verify and enter into the computer. Well, it took forever to start because one of the people couldn't get it through his head that he had to do it then: in the morning, just as the procedures say. I'm pretty lenient and don't make them HAVE TO start right at 8:00, but by 9:00 I was surprised that he and the other person hadn't gone yet. He asked if it had to be done today. I said, "Yes." but then he said that then he had all day to do it. The A/R girl and I then informed him that it had to be done in the morning - the earlier the better. I phoned the other person (I didn't want to walk all the way upstairs) and she said that she was waiting for his call.

At 9:30 I went to his desk and asked him if he was "planning to go now." Then I told him that the longer he waits, the harder it would be for me because inventory would be picked and the count would be all wrong and I would have to look for the parts. Then he went to the controller (with me following quickly behind) to ask if he had to do it in the morning." She said, "yes at 8:00 because no one is allowed to do anything until the actual count is finished." Except of course items are shipped and come in throughout the day anyway...just the guys in the warehouse aren't allowed to touch anything at 8:00.

Then the two did an OK job of counting but they didn't update if the items moved or not...so I had to do that. After the first page I was thinking of doing the thing people in the office feared: making them do a recount...and making sure they updated. But they lucked out with not many location problems afterwards. But yes I had to look for "missing" items that were picked for different orders. A few were really expensive ones too.

So all that took forever. So I didn't get to play Shipper. But since I learned how to fully do the count and how to find everything, my supervisor gave the task over to me. Fully. That's cool because now I'm in charge, but unfortunately now I'm in charge.

Today I was out there for about 1 1/2 hour. I was having fun. Doing something other than what I do everyday is a good change. And I get to hang out with the guys, sort of. But then I went back inside to do my other stuff because it was cheque run day. Bleh. But the Shipping/Receiving Manager said that he is going to give me credit for three hours. Woo! So I only have to be in the back for three tomorrow.

Which is good because I will be hella busy tomorrow. People take vacations and I have to cover for them. Pffft.

Oh well, that will make the New Pornographers show even better Friday night. Roomie is even paying for my ticket. Hopefully we'll take transit because I want to enjoy a few drinks.

=)

Mindy Simmons

You are the temptress to Homer. You are essentially a beautiful, female version of Homer with the same love of food and slacking. You work at the power plant with him, but keep your distance.
