: : : September 17, 2001 : : : 5:23 PM : : : ’Tolerance’ has been overused in the past, but in this situation it can’t be used enough. I don’t really want to write this, but I feel like I have to: It saddens me that people are calling out for an all-out attack on Afghanistan. War does not equal justice. Innocent people are at risk. It saddens me that an Egyptian student in Canada gets beat up just for being a Muslim. It saddens me that children cannot go to school because there is a fear of violence. Children shouldn’t be the victims of anything (that includes Northern Ireland as well). It saddens me that a man from Virginia said, “America was built by people coming over and contributing. They [Arabs] haven’t contributed. When you see them all sitting in cafes, they’re not contributing anything.” It saddens me that two of the opposition parties in Canada think that the Prime Minister is being too cautious. It’s better to be that than jump to conclusions. And I’d rather not have Canadian troops involved in a war that will go on for years. I’m not saying that Canada shouldn’t be involved in the fight against terrorism, just that we shouldn’t cause anymore blood to be spilt. Ugh, that was rather sombre. Maybe I should write some uplifting stuff? I’m soooo hungry. I had a large salad and a banana for lunch. I was hungrier right after lunch than before it. Also, work kinda sucked. I got sent into the warehouse to tag obsolete inventory. That is definitely not fun. It was cold there, and I got dirty. When I was practically lying on the ground, I remembered that we just received an invoice for pest control in the warehouse: rats. I didn’t really want to be there. However, I was told after that no one has actually seen any rats, just that the alarm keeps getting triggered at night. I did get a newer monitor for my computer though. Seventeen inches! However, the screen is too dark. I tried playing around with it and the control settings to fix that, but to no avail. I’m going to try it for a week, and if I don’t like it, I use my old one again. I did manage to finagle a couple guys in engineering to unhook my old one and hook up the new one. I could have done it, but I just didn’t feel like it. It was lunchtime anyway. I think I’ll make some veggie burritos for dinner. Mmm mmm. =) : : :The Rockin’ Kids: : :Rings: : :Notes: : : |
