Awww nutters!

I just talked to K.Mo and it seems our awesome trip will be put off for yet another year. I can't remember if I updated on the trip. It was changed from cross Canada to "Seventeen States in Seventeen Days (Plus Three Provinces)." We'd start in Cowtown and head East to Winnipeg then dip down into the US, head East a bit to Green Bay, then down through St. Louis to N'awlins, then West to hit Indie Mecca: Austin, TX, then boot it up back to Cowtown. Really, it was going to be insanity, but good times. So *sigh* I won't be seeing you this Fall.

Anyway, it seems she can only get two weeks off at the end of September/beginning of October. That's end of month/end of quarter for me so I can't take those two weeks off. Why? Why are the powers that be not letting us do this?

So NEXT year we will either be doing that trip or flying to Montreal/Toronto (depending where WestJet will go) and taking a train to the East Coast and playing around there. It'll depend on the exchange rate, I think.

(With all the times we have planned and postponed trips, we're calling this "Plan Q." "Plan R" will be the next one, and our REALLY INSANE TRIP will be monikered "Plan S" which works because there will be a lot of "S's" in it (it involves the Mississippi).

So I'll have to use my vacation in another way. Right now I'm thinking STAMPEDE. Give myself a really long weekend and consume as many pancakes and as much alcohol as I can.

On another sad note, my birthday plans have been crushed. I was planning to see Jonathan Richman, but the show here is cancelled. Roomie and I were looking so forward to it - even more so than the New Pornographers.

My kitchen is looking so lovely. I bought some electric blue orchids and they look so nice in the window above the sink (they look kinda like these pictures.) Just beautiful. My sister wanted to buy a cake and flowers for her best friend's birthday today. She was looking at the orchids and decided against them because her friend really likes roses, so I picked up the blue ones for myself. She ended up getting her a pretty purple rose (that *I* specifically picked out) and a really yummy cake.

The cake leftovers is in my fridge. Maybe I should have some for dinner!
